Becoming Unstoppable
Digs with Dignity
Transforming more lives with dignified spaces
When Digs with Dignity became our Purple Paladin in 2022, the young organization had a vision: give people transitioning from homelessness the dignity of a curated space that feels like home. Since then, they’ve transformed from a small team and warehouse to a larger space to collect, refurbish and design custom living spaces. Today, they’re not just furnishing homes, they’re rebuilding lives, one family at a time.
In her own words, Executive Director Kim Hannay shares how the organization has evolved in the last two years and how they’re moving their mission forward.
“I’m Kim Hannay, And I’m becoming unstoppable.”
Our mission has always been the same: to break the cycle of homelessness by furnishing homes with creative, custom designs using sustainable, upcycled solutions. As a Purple Paladin, we’ve transformed how we deliver on that promise. Today, we have a dedicated warehouse space buzzing with volunteers, a passionate, larger team of staff members, and new programs that don’t just help families move in — they help them thrive.
Digs with Dignity: Our journey (so far)

“The Grant Thornton community has continued to wrap their arms around us — it wasn’t just a one-off partnership. I didn’t realize the magnitude of how much becoming a Purple Paladin would help us continue to grow to the point we’re at now.”
- Kim Hannay,
Executive Director, Digs with Dignity
As a Purple Paladin, we’re becoming unstoppable.
Growing our team, multiplying our impact
From a team of six in 2022, we’ve nearly doubled in size, adding more specialized roles including a marketing coordinator, client liaison, and most recently head of internal operations and head of external affairs. With this growth, we’re evolving from designing one client space per week to soon serving two families weekly. We’re also expanding our services to include workshops on finance, budgeting, resume-building and more — essential skills for clients to thrive in their new homes.
Scaling our operations
After outgrowing our 5,000-square-foot warehouse, we doubled our space to 10,000-square-feet — enabling us to store and customize more furniture and décor. Grant Thornton’s support helped us acquire our own delivery truck, accelerating our ability to transform empty spaces into welcoming homes. And through this expanded capacity, we’ve diverted over 230,000 pounds of furniture from landfills.
Creating lasting change
Numbers tell our story best: to date, we’ve moved more than 208 families into new spaces. But what makes us most proud? 95% of clients we remain in contact with remain housed. At the end of the day, what we do isn’t just about furnishing spaces — it’s about breaking the cycle of homelessness for good. Each space we transform represents a family’s fresh start, and their success proves our model works.

Going beyond expectations
Grant Thornton shows up for our mission in ways that matter. During the holidays, their team goes beyond just donating gifts — they make it an event. Their offices become gift-wrapping stations, with colleagues taking time to carefully wrap presents for each family. It’s this kind of thoughtful, hands-on involvement that sets their partnership apart from the rest.
A partnership that evolves.
Two years in, Grant Thornton's commitment has only strengthened. They aren't just a donor — they’re active participants in our growth.
People who take initiative.
The Purple Paladin program runs deep at Grant Thornton. The team regularly volunteers and looks for ways to support our work.
Practical support that drives growth.
Their fundraising helped us purchase our truck and launch new initiatives — expanding our ability to serve more families.
